The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau chairman after a petition filed against the NAB over new recruitments.
Justice Azeem Khan Afridi conducted heard the petition filed by Syed Tahir Abbas and sought comments of the NAB chairman and the Ministry of Law secretary on the issue of an advertisement in national dailies, offering jobs in the organisation.
Counsel for the petitioner, GM Chaudhry, submitted before the court that the advertisement in the national dailies for new recruitments in the NAB was based on discrimination with law graduates. He contended that the merit given in the said advertisements was against the rules of Higher Education Commission (HEC). He stated that that according to the HEC, LLB degree was equal to master degrees, but the NAB ignored those possessing BA LLB degrees and invited applications from those having LLM degrees. He said it was a clear violation of articles 25 and 27 of the Constitution. He requested the court to direct the NAB and the Law Ministry to make immediate amendments to their recruitment rules bringing LLB degree at par with other master degrees according to the decision of HEC.
