The export oriented leather sector has given SOS to federal government to save the industry from collapse due to massive load-shedding resorted by KESC in industrial areas. Chairman Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), M Khurshid Ahmed said at this juncture, losses of millions of rupees are feared in Tannery Zone in Korangi industrial area due to load-shedding. “Power outage for over 10 to 12 hours per day will ruin all the raw material lying at the tanneries worth millions of dollars and leather exporters will not be able to fulfill their commitment in the international market,” Khurshid said adding that KESC should earnestly declare Tannery Zone exempted from load-shedding.
