Illegal appointments: appeal filed in IHC

A woman lawyer filed an intra-court appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the decision taken by the same court, dismissing the petition in which illegal appointments had been challenged. Advocate Anila Zeeshan, through her counsel Raja Samiul Haq contended that the move of the judge who dismissed the petition was against the law and principle of good governance.
It is pertinent to mention here that last month Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan disposed of the petition filed against 40 appointments made by the IHC during the first 10 months of 2011. However, the IHC registrar office has also raised an objection to the intra-court appeal, saying the administrative decisions of the chief justice could not be challenged.
