Zulfiqar Ali Butt, father of former Pakistan Test captain Salman Butt, is planning a trip to England to meet his son.
“I am considering a trip to London to see Salman in Canterbury jail. I am being told by our Barrister (Yasin Patel) that Salman and Mohammad Asif have been moved to this new jail from London’s Wandsworth prison,” said the senior Butt from Islamabad.
Canterbury prison’s C grade cells hold foreign nationals serving sentences upto five years. The prison has a gymnasium and an astro-turf pitch. “Our lawyers have filed an appeal against the 30-month prison sentence and we hope the case comes up for hearing soon. I am keen to attend the hearing too,” he added.
According to the father, his daughter-in-law Gul Hassan is slowly recovering from the shock. “She is alright now and taking care of her second son.” She gave birth to a baby boy in Lahore, on the day Butt was slapped with a jail term for his involvement in spot fixing by a London court.

  1. Butt junior's arrogance was his greatest enemy.

I wish that he start practising a little humility and pray very hard for an early resolution of his predicament. The sooner he apologises to the people he has cheated he will feel relaxed. He will also develop the inner strength to deal with this.

My thoughts are with the family and would wish Mr Butt senior to relay my feelings to Salman and his team mate Asif.

    Regards
