Media is an important aspect of every society as it not only gives awareness to people but also gathers people on a common cause. It broadcasts current events and raises important problems on a national platform.
But our media is not playing a positive role in our society. It is broadcasting issues or problems in a sensationalised manner rather than covering them in a dispassionate way. It gives undue hype to certain problems; so much so that it often leads to the disaffected people resorting to violence.
It is the responsibility of our media professionals to project Pakistan positively. Not only that, it is duty to follow a code of ethics, even if it hasn’t been formalised in the shape of a law, and to cover issues in a rational manner that opens up avenues for their solution.
