The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad police busted an inter-provincial gang of bandits on Tuesday while arresting four other suspects with fake currency and drugs, a police spokesman said.
He said that Islamabad SP Muhammad Yousuf Malik had told SP (Investigations) Ch Liaqat Ali to form a special team to bust gangs of robbers hiding in the latter’s jurisdiction.
Consequently, the spokesman said, a special team headed by CIA In-Charge Bashir Ahmed Noon and comprising Sub-Inspector Tehseen, ASIs including Tariq Rauf, Zafar Iqbal and Abdul Hafeez conducted a raid at the hideout of an inter-provincial gang of robbers in the ‘Malpur’ area. The policemen arrested five gangsters and seized three pistols and a Suzuki Mehran car (ICT-LV-188) from them.
The nabbed robbers were identified as Ameen s/o Khaistan Khan from Takhat Bhai Mardan, Ahmed Khan s/o Hazrat Gul from Akhwan Abad Peshawar, Ghulam Qadir s/o Sher Muhammad from Ghotki (Sindh), Jameel Ahmed s/o Rahim Bux from Karachi, Nur Khan s/o Nazar Din from Tank.
The following investigation also revealed that they had been planning to rob a place in the same area. They also confessed to committing robberies in various neighbourhoods including Sabzi Mandi, Raja Bazaar, Fateh Jang Road, Dheri Hassanabad, a flour mill at the Fateh Jang Road and several shopping malls.
Separately the CIA police nabbed Jabran s/o Muhammad Akbar Khan, a resident of Bhekar Fateh Bux with 510 grams of hashish and an accused, Afer s/o M Bashir of Bhakkar, while carrying fake currency worth Rs 41,000.
In yet another raid, the police also arrested two alleged thieves named as Zulfiqar Ali s/o Kala Khan and his wife Bushra, residents of Chiniot.
The couple was accused of stealing valuables from their former employer’s house.
