China and Pakistan are all weather strategic partners to each and China wishes Pakistan to be elected as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said on Wednesday. She said China attached great importance to Pakistan’s wish to be elected to UNSC Yu further said that “we wish Pakistan to play a greater role in upholding international peace and security”.
Welcoming China’s announcement, Ambassador Masood Khan said, “We are grateful to China for its public support and endorsement of Pakistan’s candidacy for the Non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council.”Meanwhile, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Nuaimi called on Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister House and assured that his country was committed to support Pakistan’s candidature for the UNSC non-permanent seat.
