ERRA’s services acknowledged globally

Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) Deputy Chairman Lt General Sardar Mehmood Ali Khan said on Tuesday that the organisation stood by its commitment to reconstruct and rehabilitate the affected areas, adding that the landmark achievements of ERRA had been acknowledged internationally by the UN’s prestigious SASAKAWA Award and ISO 9001 certification. He was speaking at the signing ceremony of a MoU between the ERRA and Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) at the headquarters of his organisation. The document was signed by ACTED Country Head Andrew Buchanan and ERRA Director General (A&P) Brig Saleem Mirza for a better institutional collaboration for technical cooperation.
He said the ACTED having a vast technical portfolio will assist ERRA with storage, retrieval, mapping and analysis of geographical data, using Geographic Information System (GIS). “Since the ambit of ERRA’s mandate now spans across the entire country, development of a comprehensive database management is vital. This will also act as a knowledge source for future reference and research moreover; it will enable ERRA to accomplish the assigned tasks in more benefiting manner and will assist the management in making timely analytical decisions,” he said. He added that the ACTED had been an active partner of ERRA and assisted the victims of the earthquake in relief, food shelter and access to clean water since 2005.
