The city government has recovered 1,104 acres of encroached land worth Rs 9.36 billion after launching the ongoing anti-encroachment drive on October 3, the city’s District Coordination Officer (DCO) Roshan Ali Shaikh said on Tuesday. “Steps will be taken to accelerate the campaign,” he added. The DCO was speaking at a meeting of Revenue Department officers at his office. Earlier, the participants of the meeting reviewed the ongoing drive against land grabbers in different areas of the city and made various decisions to make it more effective.
Shaikh directed officers not to succumb to any pressure and continue taking impartial action until every encroached land in the city is recovered.
He also appreciated the performance of the anti-encroachment team. “The campaign is monitored on a daily basis and the record of every grabbed land has also been compiled,” he said. “Public welfare projects will be started on the recovered state lands.” The DCO also told officers to seek the assistance from police, Rangers and the Frontier Constabulary if needed while dealing with the land mafia.

  1. The drive is very slow and selective. There is a huge encroachment just beside Kamran chowrangi in Jauhar Block 11 where the operation was expected months before but nothing happened so far. There are criminals sitting in Block 11 with illegal weapons and drugs and creating law and order situation.
