Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Wednesday that the federal government was working on the agenda of eliminating poor from the country whereas PPP is working on the alleviation of poverty.

He said this while addressing an event held for distributing sewing machines among poor women and wheelchairs among disabled in Union Committee 15 on Wednesday. Khuhro said that those who chanted slogans of change had now snatched from people their right to live, adding that masses had started rejecting such change.

He said that the priority of Imran Khan was to become the prime minister but running a country was beyond his control. Khuhro said that the federal government was making decisions without any roadmap and prior planning and during the implementation of decisions, the federal ministers were busy blaming and making U-turns.

He said that only democratic and political forces could steer the country out of the present crisis and take it forward for betterment and progress. He alleged that the federal government intended to deprive smaller provinces of their right to water and finances to establish federalism and the day was not so far when “Go Imran Go” slogans will be raised from small provinces.

Khuhro said that water share was not being given to Sindh despite Water Accord due to which millions of acres of land of Thatta and Badin had been eroded and Indus Delta had been destroyed.

He said that the required water was also not being released downstream Kotri which should be at least 10 million acre-feet. He claimed that there was no dearth of nutrition in Thar but politics was being done by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other anti-PPP forces.

The PPP provincial chief said that PPP government is giving 100 kilograms wheat bag since last four years to 287,000 families in Thar free of cost and this programme was continuing even today. He said that the distribution of free wheat was also being monitored to maintain transparency.

He said that Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai spread interfaith harmony, love, peace, tranquillity, brotherhood and tolerance through his verses which “we even need today to eliminate hate from the society”.

Khuhro said that every month distribution of sewing machines among the poor and destitute women and wheelchairs among the disabled will be made in every UC of Larkana under PPP programme to alleviate poverty.
