CSS: Age-limit relaxation

The retrogressive decision of Musharraf’s undemocratic regime to reduce the CSS age limit without any cogent reason has become the bane of existence of many CSS aspirants as the reduced age limit has become the ultimate impediment in realisation of their goals.
Times and again, the gravity of the issue has been highlighted in newspapers’ articles and letters to editors, but the government, like a dead-weight, has remained unmoved as if it has no ear to listen to public grievances and no helping hand to lend to its helpless youth who, day by day, are sinking into the abyss of despair and despondency.
Democracy is a two-way street: it was meant to be the corridor through which the government in power would consistently interact with its people for its own evolution and perpetuity. But misfortune has it that democracy proves no better than the past dictatorships in our country. Enhanced age limit in the Civil Services Exam will only enhance decent competition because now our country needs best of the best in administrative positions to steer it safely out of the lands of corruption and chaos. I humbly request the President of Pakistan Mr Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chairman FPSC Rana Bhagwandas to take notice of the issue personally, and take timely action by enhancing the age limit to 33 years in the CSS exam.

We have been hearing a lot about the fact that the CSS age limit might be relaxed. But the government has taken no concrete steps in this regard or even issued any cogent statement. This rule is old and archaic and has affected the careers of many young people. Maybe, it is time for the government to hunker down and consider this question seriously as it may help out many people.

  1. I second the opinion that age must be relaxed because its sheer stupidity on the part of Fpsc and the government that they do not allow candidates to sit an exam. Taking exams is being enlighetenment, government should enocurage people to stay in touch with newspapers and books and keep taking exams because knowledge is the way to go in todays’ pakistan.

  2. Guess in India the age limit is 35 years for the government servants and in USA there is no age limit for getting into the Civil services (that is its 59 years, means its not a restriction in a sense).
Reduced age limit is allowing incompetency to creep into the ranks of bureaucracy and that we can see in the status-quo. Security apparatus has failed to counter intelligence the acts of terrorism, police has failed to curb target killing, law enforcement has failed to impart justice to the masses. All that shows incompetency in government departments. Still the government is not raising the age limit because it doesn’t want the competent enlighetned lot to join civil services.
Justice retd Rana Bhagwandas is requested to muster some nerve and come forward to make the historical amendment in the age limit by enhancing it as far as he could. Thank you!

  3. Hey its not the fault of the government, its only the fault of the chairman fpsc. He is a moron, an idiot of its kind to be sitting at the top of the commission and bringing shame to his name by taking no step.
Would it kill you Mr. Rana Bhagwandas to step forward and tell the truth that age limit is really required? You are such a coward, a petty poor little chairman having no will of your own, you are only a puppet, a decoy. My advice to you is get lost for the good of this country because we need some self-assertive, courageous chairman for fpsc in order that the nation can prosper and country can become a safe place.
