LCWU okays budget

The syndicate of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Friday approved the annual budget for students, restructuring of the institution and faculties. Reconstitution of a six-member search committee, nomination of members of the academic council, advanced studies, research board and all recommendations forwarded by the selection boards were also approved. The 43rd meeting of the syndicate was held at the committee room chaired by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Sabiha Mansoor. The university will spend Rs 830.631 million and receive Rs 792.098 million funds from all resources leaving a deficit of Rs 38.533 million.
In her briefing, the VC told the syndicate that the strategic vision of the LCWU was to maximise the number of graduates to take-up employment, enhance quality of learning, teaching and research and produce graduates who were tolerant and peace-loving. The LCWU Vision 2020 though forward looking was rooted deeply in the mission of the university, as laid down by the syndicate since its inception. Syndicate members, in principle, endorsed the strategic vision of the university. Sabiha briefed that undergraduate and post-graduate programmes of LCWU had expanded over period of the last nine years. Therefore, management of the intermediate of the college requires an independent administrative set-up under a principal reporting to the VC. The syndicate approved an independent set-up of an intermediate college along with the appointment of the principal wef March 2012.
