Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to once again join hands with the Pakistan People’s Party-led coalition government, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday. MQM will make a formal announcement to this effect shortly, sources said.
The ministers of MQM had submitted their resignations to the government but they had not been accepted. Now after the decision of the MQM’s return to the government, MQM’s ministers would be immediately taking charge of their posts both in the provincial and federal governments, sources added.
Earlier, a delegation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) met with the leadership of MQM here at the Governor’s House. The meeting proved fruitful for PPP as it succeeded in wooing back the support of MQM.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad said on Wednesday that the MQM would continue to work unconditionally for the stability of democracy, the channel reported.
Talking to journalists along with Agha Siraj Durrani, the governor said the meeting would discuss how democracy could be strengthened.
Durrani took this opportunity to clarify that there was no deadlock between the PPP and MQM.
