APC was a milestone: Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday termed All Parties Conference (APC) a milestone in the history of the country as all political leaders of the country sat together to ascertain that there will be no compromise over territorial integrity.
“The APC showed that there might be political differences among the parties but everyone is united for sovereignty of the country”, he said while talking to journalist during a visit to Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) office.
To a question he said that targeted action will remain continue in Karachi and he is getting briefing daily through video and audio conferencing, making directions for further success against criminal elements. The provincial government of Balochistan is in continuous contact and situation in Quetta as well as Mastung is being monitored, he said.
The minister said Islamabad police had recovered huge quantity of explosive material hidden in fire extinguishing cylinders and foiled a terror bid. It has been ordered to suspend all such cylinders placed in various buildings and take clearance certificates from the suppliers in future, he added.
IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SSSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, SP Mir Vaiz Niaz, SP Sajid Kiyani and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
Malik said that few other high value targets have been arrested and recovery of rocket launchers, hand grenades, suicide jackets have been made from them. “Terrorists are on the run and are trying to disrupt peace of Islamabad but IGP Islamabad and SSP Islamabad are working devotedly through their efficient force to foil their nefarious design,” he added.
The minister also announced to award PPM for Sub-Inspector Sher Ali who recovered explosive material and arrested two persons trying to import it into the city in two cars.
They said that 5,000 vacancies will be created in Islamabad police to meet its security and other requirements and Prime Minister will be requested for approval of these new appointments.
