We have heard of diva antics, but UTV Motion Pictures and Madhur Bhandarkar take being a ‘heroine’ to a whole new level. For their project ‘Heroine’, the production house and the director have decided to allot a whopping 12 million Indian rupees of the film’s budget to costumes. A source revealed that the film’s leading lady, Kareena Kapoor, will have 130 costumes designed especially for her by ace designer Manish Malhotra. The source explained, “Kareena plays a diva at the prime of her career. Each scene will have at least four costume changes.
Heroine is an extravagant project and they are leaving no stone unturned to make it look as glamorous as possible.” Reportedly, Kareena is expected to meet with Malhotra next weekend for dress fittings. And apparently, National Award-winning director Bhandarkar will also be present to oversee the costume trials. The source also informed that 0.5 million of the film’s budget was previously spent on costumes that the former leading lady, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, wore, during the nine days that she shot for Heroine. However, all those costumes were of no use, as Kareena is a different size. Manish Malhotra said, “I have never made so many costumes for one actress in my entire career, till date.”
