Once again the Yellow Cab Scheme is going to change the fate of the poor and unemployed people, or at least this is what the government of Punjab wants us to believe. Tax-free cars will once again be imported to benefit the select few. Last time, luxury cars were imported. How will the poor, unemployed people buy these cars as taxis? We all know the real beneficiaries. Pakistanis do not need them. They have concerns over the serious economic condition, at the individual level and the state level.
We have a lot of private taxi cars. We do not need yellow cabs. Instead, we need to improve our public transport system. The Lahore Transport Company has done nothing to the betterment of the transport system. Its high-ups are unable to make arrangements to operate sufficient buses on various routes and are unable to honour their announcement for relief/concessions to senior citizens.
It is better to import buses and wagons rather than cabs for the benefits of the masses.

Once again Yellow Cabs are about to run on Punjab’s roads. Previously, most of the yellow cabs were snatched and were taken to Afghanistan and are still in use there.
Those who were used to travel by yellow cab are now travelling on public transport ie, on buses, Qingqi and vans due to high fuel prices. CNG is not available for three days of a week. Even rickshaws are no more affordable for the poor man. Rikshaw drivers are forced to use them as a commuter instead of a cab. In this situation how can a poor man travel by yellow cab?
