Bracing for floods

The sight of flood affected areas brings tears to many eyes. Life of poor people has become so miserable. Most of them are prone to outbreak of disastrous epidemic. Floods heavily devastated standing crops, cattle and people the last year too. It was thought that some concrete steps would be taken to control floods this year but the sad story has also been repeated this year. Hoping against the hope, expectations from Disaster Management Cell and other flood controlling departments to overcome floods dashed to ground.

Eventually, these departments bore no fruit and remained barren as usual. Heads must roll for who failed to protect poor people from expected floods and their timely shifting to some safer place before the start of torrential rains. The way we sleep over critical issues is very discouraging. We only wake up when water crosses our head, and on hearing death knells, and raise our begging bowl for alms and charity in bid to save flood-struck people.
