Transport system of KU

The transport system of the Karachi University is in extremely bad condition. It has a total of 30 routes which are not enough for the students.

The university boasts some 25,000 students enrolled in its evening and morning programmes combined. The students, majority of them girls, come from far-flung areas of the metropolis to attend the university.

Despite having a large student base, which makes it the largest public sector university in the country, there is as yet no adequate and reliable transport system available for the students, which could provide them with a safe and comfortable journey to and from the university.

The evening students are the worst affectees, for not only are they charged higher but they also do not have the luxury of travelling by the university buses.

University provides only one point for each area which creates a lot of panic among the students due to overloading. Many students are not able to reach the university in time because they have to use public transport or their own vehicles as the university buses are not enough to carry them around. Many students have to travel on these buses while hanging to a bar on the bus, thus endangering their lives.

I request the management of KU to pay attention towards this dire situation and find a solution as soon as possible.
