Man killed in police encounter

A 24-year-old man, Nadir alias Changar, resident of Farrukhabad Area Shahdara was shot in a police encounter late on Saturday night.
Nadir’s mother, Majhi, while talking to the media outside Mayo Hospital’s morgue claimed that her son was innocent. She claimed that late on Saturday night her son was sleeping at their house’s rooftop when a heavy contingent of Shahdara Police climbed into their house and took Raju and Javed in their custody. She claimed that Nadir in order to save himself tried to escape over which policemen opened fires on him and killed him and later claimed that they had killed Nadir when he retaliated to the police. She claimed that police would also kill Raju and Javed in a similar fashion soon. She requested authorities to conduct inquiry in this regard and stop the extra judicial killing in any case.
Earlier Lahore Police claimed that late on Saturday night Sub Inspector Hassan Raza, Chowki Beghaum Kot in-charge along with his men were patrolling in the chowki jurisdiction when they received two separate wireless calls, one reporting a mugging incident and the other informing of a motorbike being snatched. Acting immediately, the police were on route to the crime scene when Raza spotted suspicious three men on the footpath. The in-charge ordered the vehicle to stop in order to interrogate the suspicious individuals. As the three men saw the police vehicle stopping, they sat on the bike and fled the scene, while opening fire on the police.
The policemen chased and cornered the men near the nullah. Mustansar Hussain was ordered by the chowki in-charge to open fire with his SMG, said a police source. One man was hit in the neck: he died on the spot, a wallet and an illegal pistol were recovered from him. The remaining two fled on their bike. A case was registered by the Shahdra Police Station, while the body was sent for autopsy.
MAN slaughtered: Majeed Maseeh, 36, was slaughtered to death by unidentified men in the Chuhang Police precincts on Sunday. The deceased, a resident of Shahpur, left his house after receiving a call on his mobile but never returned. His wife contacted police upon which the police launched a search operation and found his body from Jubilee Town.
ACCIDENT: Two people were knocked down and killed by speeding vehicles in two different accidents on Sunday. In the Kahna Police precincts, an unidentified 25-year-old man, took a lift from motorcyclist Ijaz resident of Chah Meeran Area. As they reached Kahna on Ferozpur road, the bike collided with a speeding rickshaw and both sustained multiple injuries. Some locals, with the help of Rescue 1122 officials, rushed them to a nearby hospital where the unidentified man died while Ijaz’s condition was stated to be critical.
