In his reaction to Altaf Hussain’s press conference, Jamaat e Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti rejected the Altaf’s allegation that the JI was involved in May 12 2007 carnage.
He said everyone knows the MQM was responsible and was opposed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry’s visit to Karachi. He said the MQM must answer who killed their own party leader, Imran Farooq. He said Altaf was now threatening the Supreme Court.
People of Sindh must decide: Mirza
In his reaction to Altaf Hussain’s press conference, former Sindh Home Minster Dr. Zulifiqar Mirza said the people of Sindh have to decide that who is true and who is false.
He said the MQM leadership must tell its own activists why the murderers of its own party leader Azeem Tariq had not been apprehended despite the over eight years the party remained in power during Musharraf’s tenure.
No substance to allegations: ANP
In reaction to Altaf Hussain’s allegations against Awami National Party (ANP) leadership, ANP Senator Zahid Khan said Altaf gave the appearance of a lunatic in the press conference and had failed to substantiate allegations against ANP leadership.
Zahid said, “Altaf negated his own allegation since he admitted he did not have proof to implicate the ANP of receiving US dollars during elections.”
“Without proof, his allegations have no value”, he said.
He said if Altaf was a partier he should surrender his UK nationality and return to Pakistan.
Elsewhere, ANP Central Vice President Bushra Gohar said Pakistan should stop the meddling of a foreigner, Altaf Hussain, in the country’s affairs.
She said Altaf had cancelled his Pakistani citizenship and was a UK resident and citizen, and, therefore, had no right to comment on the country.
