The need for timely justice has been the demand of the 180 million-strong population of the country. They were living in destitution when our weak judiciary was assaulted back in 2007, but without looking for any heavenly support, the lawyers and civil society took the lead and ended up with a judiciary restored to its original constitutional position.
The period brought many troubles for us: economy crunched, infra-structure destroyed, life losses, and lost dignity among many others. The international community declared us a “failed state” and we were in mayhem of injustice and lawlessness. But a strange thing happened then, instead of getting justice we are just listening to a mythical notion by our independent judiciary that “we don’t want to derail the prevailing system.” Sir, which system are you trying to safeguard? The one which suspended the chief justice or one which was not restoring the dignity of judiciary?
Sir, while protecting the prevailing system, are you not overlooking the assassins of May 12, target killers of Karachi who are playing havoc with the innocent lives and have killed more than 6500 innocent citizens (just for their vested political interests) during the prevalence of this system, which actually you don’t want to derail? How can you weigh the unjust and silent release of Raymond Davis at the expense of two innocent lives of Pakistan nationals and above all our national integrity and solidarity? Sir, we only know that “justice delayed is justice denied” and being Muslims we are not supposed to delay justice just for the sake of protecting any (fake) system, because it’s not a system that ensures justice rather, it’s justice that really ensures a pure system. Above all, Allah Almighty will not accept any such kind of myth, because when He has bestowed anyone with the duty of doing justice, then nothing can be used as a shelter for the concept of “justice delayed”.
