SCBA to organise international moot

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) is holding an international conference from September 9 to 11. Over a hundred foreign delegates from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and India are expected, SCBA President Asma Jahangir said in a statement issued on Saturday. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will inaugurate the conference on September 9 at Avari, Lahore.
Over 600 lawyers from across the country have registered for the event. The conference titled “Justice for All and Impunity for None” will focus upon the criminal justice system during conflict, and in reforming it to meet new challenges. The conference will also discuss the role of media during such tensions. The presidents of India SCBA, the bar council of India and the Delhi High court will also attend.
India’s former solicitor general Soli Sorabjee, United Nations former special rapporteur on independence Param Amarswamy, Sri Lanka Transparency International President Welimuna and lawyers and judges from Malaysia will be attending.The event will be followed by dinners hosted by the governor and chief minister of Punjab. A cultural program has also been organized for those attending the conference.
