Disorder in Karachi

It is a grim fact that everyone is now asking for the army’s intervention in Karachi. The gross failure of police to restore law and order in the city is evident through the daily incidents of violence. But army operation is not the answer or the ultimate solution to the problem. The army has been called in before and no long term sustainable peace had been achieved even then. The army is not meant for this purpose, as the ultimate responsibility lies in the hands of the police department. It is the institution of police which should be revamped in order to have the capability to maintain law and order in Karachi.
