Disowning Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations against the MQM and Rehman Malik as his personal views, Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said the decisions taken by the party and its leadership with consensus could not be reversed because of an individual’s dissent.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said all the allegations of Mirza were his personal views and they had nothing to do with the party. “He resigned from the cabinet, the Sindh Assembly membership and the party’s slot prior to holding the press conference,” the information minister said. She said the decisions taken by the government and the party leadership in consensus with allies could not be reversed because of an individual’s dissent as the government wanted peace in Karachi.
When asked if any disciplinary action would be taken against Mirza by the party, she said this decision lied with the party leadership.
Regarding allegations against Interior Minister Rehman Malik, she said he would defend himself and reply to these at an appropriate time. She remarked Mirza had resigned for personal reasons. She said the agenda of the PPP was consultation with others and the party believed in political solution through dialogue by taking all stakeholders into confidence. She added the first priority of the federal government was to restore peace in Karachi.
To a question about the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer, she said law and order was a provincial subject and added the federal government was willing to help the authorities concerned in their efforts to attain peace.
Meanwhile, in a late night development, President Asif Ali Zardari called a meeting of the Sindh cabinet and MPAs in Islamabad on Monday (today).

  1. Disown Mirza's statement against MQM and go and capitulate before Altaf. This is what you call politics. It is politics of hypocrisy and expediency. Shame on you.

  2. These are limitations of coalition politics. However, statesmanship demands that menace of MQM be tackled in the best interest of the nation. All non-MQM forces must unite. The problem is that if they decide to blackmail the government, other political parties (N-League tops the list) are always ready to welcome them with open arms.

  3. Zulfikar Mirza is most loyal friend of Zardari and has been Interior minister of Sind.He knows inside out of MQM,target killings, target killers, bathakhori of hundred of billion dollars etc.He swore on Holy Koran not on PPP manifesto to be told to carry personal opinion as Firdous Awan says. This totally wrong.PPP-Zardari must find the treason of traitors as alleged by Z.Mirza as MQM has been Zardari loyal partners and its Governor Sindj belongs to MQM.SCP,defense forces, intelligence must find the traitors and ban them from politics and hang them to get nations rid of devils within and without.
