Overpopulation is one of the major problems which the country is facing. Metropolises like Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad are facing this issue. The reason is the huge volume of rural-urban migration taking place.
People from rural areas move to the cities for better educational prospects and job opportunities. The result is that there is an increase in unplanned colonies. Such colonies do not have a proper sanitation system, roads are not carpeted and communication facilities are almost negligible. In some places, cleanliness is not ensured and garbage disposal is not given importance. The number of private vehicles has also increased as people from other cities have also started settling in the three major cities. Rural-urban migration can be reduced if good quality schools, colleges and universities are made in small cities.
Factories and industries should be set up in villages so that people living in the same area are employed in those industries.
