The floods in Ravi and Sutlej rivers are also causing havoc but Punjab has no choice since there are no sites in Pakistan where dams could be built on these rivers to moderate the floods. Sindh has a choice but is ignoring it, thereby putting itself at the mercy of ever increasing floods for all times to come. There is only one dam that can help to moderate the floods in Sindh. To say that it is only the heavy rains in Sindh which have done the damage and not the floods, is not correct. The heavy rains in the northern areas of the country and in India are also reaching Sindh in the form of floods and are adding to the rain damage.
