End Karachi violence

A fresh spate of violence has hit hard the Karachiites. For over a month now, Karachi is far from peace; since the beginning of Ramzan, a blood-thirsty ethno-political wartime eclipsed the true spirit of piety, devotion and peace of this holy month. And now criminal gangs are bent on depriving Karachi of security and stability.

The brutal incidents of firing and kidnapping have stirred up fear in the citizens more than ever. If it is not us then it is our relatives, colleagues, friends or neighbours. And what crime are we and our loved ones paying the price for?

For belonging to a certain ethnic community or for living in the economic hub of the country? The common wage earners are being targeted. Who is responsible for this?

Families are now afraid of sending their loved ones to work and their children to educational institutes in fear of never seeing them again. Because of such terrorising events, businesses have come to a standstill.

Even though hundreds of additional police forces and paramilitary troops have been deployed in the city, yet they are unable to control and eliminate the massive violence. Being a member of this society, I request the government authorities to take up strict measures to ensure the safety of all Karachiites. We are all Pakistanis.
