This refers to the letter titled “Indus Water Treaty violations” by Mr Khaled Ikbal published on August 22, 2011, in your esteemed newspaper.
We cannot but recall yet again to Mr Khaled the reply to a question in the Pakistan National Assembly, given by the Minister of Water and Power of Pakistan on 22 April, 2011, which stated, inter alia, that “there is no illegal construction by India on the western rivers. However, some disputes arise on the design of the plants which are being resolved under the provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty 1960.”
We hope that Mr Khaled would go by the above authoritative information provided to the National Assembly of Pakistan rather than by opinions expressed in various articles on the subject.
