Poisonous liquor claims 33 lives in Mirpurkhas

About 33 people have died after taking poisonous liquor in the Mirpurkhas city in the holy month of Ramadan.
The SSP took strict notice of the matter and set up a committee with the direction to submit its report within three days. As per the report submitted by the committee, local liquor shops remained closed during Ramadan, but some bootleggers continued selling poisonous liquor at their secret dens.
The eyesight of those who drank the poisonous liquor was greatly damaged and their liver badly affected within a few hours. Police sources said about 33 people, including government employees, political workers, motor mechanics, police personnel and drug peddlers died after drinking the poisonous liquor. Mirpurkhas SSP Riaz Ahmed Soomro took strict notice of the matter and ordered a crackdown.
The police rounded up Daulat Ram, Girdhari Lal, Meraj and an unknown person and seized from their possession 20 litres of foreign and 300 litres of local liquor.
