Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Raja Muhammad Ashfaq Sarwar on Sunday said foolproof security arrangements should be made for the processions and gatherings organised on Youm-e-Ali, which would be observed on the 21st of Ramadan.
Chairing a meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, he suggested deploying maximum police officials to provide security cover to the mourners and said no one should be allowed to enter the processions except from the specific points where proper security arrangements must be ensured. The Rawalpindi commissioner told the meeting that as many as 30 mourning processions would be taken out through out the division, while 24 gatherings (majalis) were also planned.
A comprehensive security plan had also been devised for the security of Mahafil-e-Shabina, mosques, Eid night, Eidul Fitr prayer congregations and for the safety of religious places of minorities, he added. The municipal services and health departments have also been directed to provide necessary cover to the mourners.
