Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who has been placed under house arrest by occupied Indian authorities in Kashmir, has ‘warned’ the government to face stir “if the political prisoners and youth who are languishing in jails are not released before Eid”.
Geelani who was scheduled to visit Martyrs Graveyard here today was placed under house arrest along with many other pro-resistance leaders.
In a hurriedly called press conference at his house today, Geelani said, “I warn the government that if they do not release political prisoners and youth by Eid they should be ready to face our agitation.”
He also sought support from the traders and businessman community ‘to make his agitation successful’.
“If the government does not relent and imposes restrictions on pro-resistance leaders we would be forced to issue a protest programme after Eid,” Geelani said. NNI
