Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday, directed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) chairman to submit a justification for issuing 20,000 Computerized National Identity Cards(CNIC) to the employees of Bahria Town.
The chief justice also issued a notice to Chairman of Bahria Town Malik Riaz and admitted the case for regular hearing before a three-member Supreme Court bench for Friday. The notice was taken on an application according to which Malik Riaz had obtained 20,000 CNICs for his employees with the addresses changed for localities falling within NA-52 constituency. National Assembly Opposition Leader Nisar Ali Khan had expressed similar concerns on the issue, labeling it as an attempt to influence the forthcoming elections.
