Woman shot dead, minor dies in roof collapse

A 70–year-old woman was shot dead on Wednesday when she was caught up in a fight between two brothers.
Police said two brothers Abid Bashir and Khalid Bashir had a row over some domestic issue that led to a fight. Khalid, in a bid to escape the quarrel, ran out of the house. Abid followed him carrying a 30-bore pistol and opened indiscriminate fire in the street. Khalid was shot and fell to the ground. Resham Bibi, one of their neighbours, also received bullet injuries when she came out of her house after hearing the fight raging outside.
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ramzan said both the injured were taken to a hospital where 70-year-old Resham Bibi succumbed to her wounds. Khalid’s condition was said to be out of danger. Abid escaped from the crime scene after the incident.
Roof collapsed: A minor boy died and his two sisters were badly injured when the roof of their house collapsed in Maryam Colony Bagariyan. Edhi officials said Raees Ahmad and his wife were busy in their household work and their three children were asleep when the roof of their house collapsed.
All three children, Awais, 3, Maryam, 5 and Sidra, 4, were crushed under the heavy debris. The neighbours and Rescue 1122 officials reached the site and recovered the trapped children. The youngest, Awais, was found dead while his two sisters were recovered with serious injuries.
Road accidents: A woman was killed while two other people received serious injuries in two different road accidents here on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Nazia, 25, while the two injured people were identified as Farman and Tariq. Farman and his sister Nazia were riding a motorbike when a speeding van hit them from behind near Double Roads Stop on Bund Road. They both fell to the ground with serious injuries. Locals rushed to the site and informed Rescue 1122 about the incident. They reached the spot and shifted them to a nearby hospital where Nazia was declared dead on arrival while the condition of Farman was said to be stable.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man was badly injured when an auto rickshaw ran over him near Yadgar Chowk.
Fire: Valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes in a drugstore located near Shaukat Khanum Hospital on Wednesday. Edhi officials said a fire broke out because of short circuiting, which gutted medicines and valuables worth thousands of rupees.
