Indonesian embassy marks Independence Day with reception

Indonesian Ambassador Ishak Latuconsina and his spouse Butar Latuconsina hosted a colourful reception at a local hotel to celebrate the 66th Independence Day of Indonesia.Information and Broadcasting Federal Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was the chief guest at the ceremony that was attended by senior civilian and military Pakistani officials, junior and senior diplomats including military attaches and advisers, politicians and many civilians.
The programme began with the playing of the national anthems of both countries by an ensemble and was followed a cake-cutting ceremony.
The information minister congratulated the ambassador on the historic day of Indonesia. The ambassador reciprocated the sentiments expressed by the minister and extended his warmest greetings to the government and people of Pakistan on the 64th Independence Day of the country celebrated recently on August 14.
The variety of food served during the event had variations to be found both in Pakistan and Indonesia. Pakistan and Indonesia share cordial ties, as the two are Muslim states and important members of ASEAN.

  1. These functions are exclusively for the Elite and should not be publicized for the ordinary public. I wonder if the Ambassador had any kind words for late Dr Sukarno who led his nation to independence from the Dutch. We cannot forget his support in 1965 .
