At least 13 people, including four women and four children, fell victim to violence on Tuesday in two separate incidents.
In the first incident at Khazana on Charsadda Road, eight members of one family were shot dead by a relative. Reportedly the family of an Afghan refugee named Khan Baba had developed some differences with their son- in- law Ghaffar. Ghaffar, along with another accomplice, broke into the Afghan refugee’s house on Monday night and opened fire on the occupants. The police said the victims included one child, two women and five men.
The accused had already secured a Pakistani passport with the help of a friend, Abdullah and had booked a flight to London from three different airports. Soon after the murders were committed, senior police officials in Peshawar established contact with airport and immigration staff in Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. Police claimed the Afghan national had yet to escape.
The second incident took place at Shaheen Bazaar in Peshawar on Tuesday afternoon. The police found bullet-ridden bodies of Amjad Hussain along with his wife, two sons and a daughter inside their house upon search. The main gate was locked from the inside; lending credence to the belief that Amjad Hussain committed suicide after shooting the other four family members. Peshawar Police are investigating both incidents.
