I join the people of Sindh who are widely protesting against the PPP government on the issue of local government system.
First, the government agreed to restore ex-army dictator General Musharraf’s Local Government (LG) system in only two big cities of Sindh i.e., Karachi and Hyderabad, but after severe protests from the people of Sindh, it took a somersault by taking another wrong and unacceptable decision to introduce this system in whole of Sindh instead. Thus, the government has categorically bulldozed the wishes of the people of Sindh who wanted to see the Commissionrate system restored in Sindh.
When three out of four provinces have already restored the old Commissionarate system, there was no harm to introduce the same in Sindh.
I also strongly condemn the statement of Federal Law Minister Maula Bux Chandio in a private TV channel in which he supported the dual LG System in Sindh and said that they were compelled to adopt the dual system for the sake of peace, otherwise Sindh could have been divided.
Nevertheless, he did not take trouble to explain who wanted to divide Sindh and how? In other words, his government is ready to sell the whole of Sindh if the so-called peace in the province requires so. We, the people, warn the government to desist from such adventures
