Need for unity and reform

Pakistan came into being after a lot of sacrifices by people which resulted in a bond of unity which was created by the people for struggle of independence. Pakistan although being a democratic nation, stands at the edge of anarchy where collaboration and harmony is difficult to be seen.

United States of America, even though being the leading power of the world, failed to take preemptive actions with regards to many events. With regards to 9/11, CIA had information about the upcoming terrorist attack but they failed to defend themselves. Despite the failure, the US government as well as defence and intelligence was not attacked by critics and stood by them in promoting the US’ image in the international community.

However, it was not so in our country in the aftermath of the recent events of 2nd May, 2011, Operation Neptune Spear and the attack on Mehran Base. In both events, the main target of media and political parties was the army. Not much importance was paid to the other side of the picture and sole bearer of controversies and criticism was the army.

A hand cannot fully functions unless and until it became a fist with all five fingers united. The political parties should promote those actions which greatly serve country’s interests and are fruitful in long run.

The society should play a positive role in judging a situation and should differentiate between facts and manipulated truth. The army is indeed an important institution but it needs to be cleaned up for its own good and for the country’s interest.
