The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Tuesday sent its Ramadan blessings to the people by resorting to load shedding at Sehr.
Despite assurances from the Ministry of Water and Power of no load shedding during Sehr and Iftar timings, the rural areas of the city faced power outage exactly when the people were having their Sehr meal between 2:15am to 4am.
The unannounced power outage in the rural areas of the federal capital got on the nerves of residents who were expecting smooth sailing per IESCO’s promises.
A number of people expressed sorrow over the IESCO’s attitude, saying the authority should have at least spared the people in the holy month of Ramadan.
They also complained of low gas pressure at Sehr timing. When contacted, an official of IESCO said on condition of anonymity that power demand had increased unexpectedly at the time of Sehr and it became necessary to resort to load management through outages. He hoped that the same would not be repeated in the coming days.
