Hearing against Sohail Zia Butt adjourned

An accountability court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a reference against former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of the provincial assembly (MPA) and close relative of Sharif brothers Sohail Zia Butt until August 9.
Earlier, the court recorded the statement of two prosecution witnesses. A reference was filed against Sohail in 2000 accusing him of receiving Rs two million from the National Industrial Co-operative Corporation to clear Ahmed Mansion, a property owned by the NICFC from illegal occupants.
Separately, Additional District and Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain directed the Shahdara Police Station SHO to recover the wife of Tahir Mehmood from illegal custody of his father-in-law and present her in court today (Tuesday).
According to details, Mehmood, a resident of Shahdara had filed the petition submitting that his father-in-law Muhammad Ashraf had detained his wife Fatima and not allowing him to meet his wife. He requested the court to recover his wife from illegal custody of his father-in-law.
The court, while admitting the application for hearing, appointed a bailiff and directed the SHO concerned to assist the bailiff for recovery of Fatima.
Also on Monday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Saleem directed the Burki Police Station SHO to recover one and half-year-old Rabia, daughter of Rukhsana, who had been snatched by her father, and present her in court on August 3.
According to details, Rukhsana, a resident of Burki, had filed a petition submitting that her husband Abbas had kicked her out from his house a few weeks ago and snatched her daughter. She requested the court to recover her daughter from illegal custody of her husband.
