An anti-terrorism court of Rawalpindi sent the accused on a 14-day judicial remand, rejecting the police request for physical remand. An Islamabad court, however, granted his physical remanded to the police for three days for his alleged involvement in a land fraud case.
Amid tight security, the Shalimar police brought the accused to Islamabad District Courts from Rawlapindi after producing him before the ATC. The accused was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Rai Liaqat Ali Kharal. The police told the court that the accused was arrested in a case registered against him on July 15, 2011.

During the course of hearing, the police sought a seven-day physical remand of the accused for the recovery of Rs 950,000. However, the court granted a three-day remand. The magistrate also directed Shalimar Police to complete investigation with in given time and produce the accused in his court on Thursday. During the hearing of the case, no unauthorised person was allowed to enter the court.
Earlier, the Shalimar police produced the accused in Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi for his alleged involvement in a case registered on July 15, 2011 against him and his 86 supporters, who besieged Shalimar Police Station, attacked the police officials and got the MNA released. On Sunday the police produced the accused MNA before ATC Special Judge Akram Awan and sought his seven-day physical remand for the recovery of the weapons and car used in the crime. The court rejected the police request and sent the PML-N leader on a judicial remand. The accused will be presented in the court on July 31.
Speaking to the media outside the ATC, the accused parliamentarian said that on Friday he was forcibly got freed by his supporters from the custody of the Shalimar police. “I am being blackmailed and victimised,” he said. He added he himself surrendered before the court and he could not even think of breaking the law. Anjum Aqeel said that he was being victimised by the federal government because it was afraid of PML-N’s popularity. A number of PML-N activists who gathered outside the court raised slogans in favour of the MNA.
