The officials of the Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) on Sunday killed two innocent cloth merchants at the Motorway near Islamabad, suspecting them as drug traffickers. According to the Motorway Police, the ANF officials tried to stop a wagon coming from Mardan near Tarnol Interchange. However, the driver did not pay attention. Later, the ANF team started chasing the vehicle and resorted to indiscriminate fire near the Chakri Interchange.
Resultantly, one of the passengers was killed on the spot while five others received bullet wounds. They were rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where one of them succumbed to his injuries. It is said that the vehicle was heading towards Lahore. A Motorway Police spokesman told Pakistan Today that the ANF officials fled the scene but later they were arrested from a village near the interchange. He said after the incident, the Motorway Police only found cloth while searching the said wagon and there were no contrabands in it. The spokesman said they had handed over the accused ANF Sub-Inspector Munir and Constable Waheed to the Chakri Police Station and an FIR was lodged against them.
