Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hassan on Friday said the PPP regime had turned the blood of Pashtuns into water by allowing continuous drone attacks, while the country’s military had been adding fuel to the fire with its offensives in the Tribal Areas.
He was addressing participants of a sit-in on the GT Road Gujranwala that lasted more than six hours, leaving the city jammed for the entire day.
Hassan said the myopic approach of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani on the implementation of unanimous resolution of parliament and their ignorance in obeying orders of the apex court clearly proved that both of them had been acting as agents of the US.
“The US has announced a crusade against the Muslim world and Pakistan, while Asif Ali Zardari and Yousaf Raza Gilani are acting as US robots,” he said.“Americans want to capture resources of Central Asian republics and started their campaign by destabilising Pakistan through its self-imposed war on terror,” he said.
“The number of missing persons in the country will increase gradually and instability will rise until the rulers get rid of their attitude of obeying US orders,” he claimed. The JI chief said the riots in Karachi were a conspiracy and part of a major international plot against the country.
Conspiring: “The colonial powers are out to destroy this country, especially Karachi, through ethnic disturbances. Unfortunately, the federal and Sindh governments are fully involved in the conspiracy to pit a brother against a brother,” Hassan said.
“Nawaz Sharif and Altaf Hussain joined hands with Asif Ali Zardari just to remain in power, how can they form a grand opposition alliance? Their unconditional support during past three years has resulted in disasters in all walks of life and that is why more than 25,000 Pakistani are being pushed below the poverty line daily,” he said.
Hassan announced to mark July 19 as day of solidarity with the people of Balochistan, hoping that the PPP regime would be forced to give rights to the Baloch people as well as recover the missing people in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.
JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch criticised the MQM for its decision to rejoin the coalition government yet again after the assassination of more than hundred innocent citizens during the past week in Karachi, saying the MQM played politics in the lap of establishment for the sake of power.
