National Highway Authority sets up Flood Emergency Cells

National Highway Authority Chairman Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi has said that “Flood Emergency Cells” have been set up at all regional offices of NHA from July 9, to tackle any likely disastrous situation due to the current monsoon rains. Focal persons have also been appointed to serve relief activity with the cooperation of other concerned organizations. They are sending daily situation report to NHA HQs Islamabad.
Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi expressed these views while presiding over a briefing session arranged by NHA’s Operations Wing here today. NHA Member Operations Ch. Mujeed Qadir gave detailed briefing. The senior officers of the Authority were also present. During the briefing session, Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi was apprised regarding the installation of Electronic Toll & Traffic Management (ETTM) system all along NHA network.
He was informed that the ETTM system is operational at 6 x locations i.e., Capt. Iqbal Shaheed Bridge, Haro Bridge, Sangjani, Qutbal, Mandra & Taraki on economic life line N-5. Such system is also being installed at Islamabad-Murree dual carriageway, Chenab Bridge (South), Harappa and Khan Bela, while this state of the art system is planned at Chenab Bridge (North), Gujranwala, Pattoki and Okara, he was told.
