14 cops booked in murder case

One Bahaqaldin Kaleri filed an application before the Khairpur District and Sessions Judge, stating that 14 policemen had arrested his relative Suleman Kaleri and then killed him in a fake encounter. Gambat Station House Officer Haq Nawaz Lolai; Assistant Sub-Inspectors Aqil Narejo, Mumtaz Ujjan and Muhammad Owais Lashari; Head Constables Imam Dino, Manzoor Narejo, Mazhar Kandhro and Khadim Hussain; and constables Muhammad Mithal, Altaf Hussain Khaskheli, Abid Ali, Ghulam Akber, Mehboob Ali and Ghulam Shabir Mangnejo were cited as respondents in the application.
The court admitted the application and issued notices to the respondents for submitting their response on July 13.
UTP DIES IN LOCK-UP: An under-trial prisoner (UTP) died in the judicial lockup of Gambat. Sanaullah Kirio was breathed his last in Gambat’s judicial lockup due to some illness. However, Kirio’s parents are alleging that he was killed by the lockup staff. The body of the deceased UTP was handed over to his relatives after autopsy.
BANDITS ROB BANK: Four armed bandits robbed the Ranipur branch of the Allied Bank Limited. They snatched a repeater pistol from the bank’s private security guard and then robbed the bank of Rs 2.5 million at gunpoint. According to the bank manager, there was no police guard posted at the bank. He said that the police did not arrive on the scene in time.
