After heavy bloodshed during the past four days claiming the lives of around 108 people, the guns of the terrorists went silent on Saturday and not a single killing incident was reported in the city from 7:00 am afterwards. The overall situation in the city remained calm as late on Friday night, the Pakistan Rangers personnel conducted search operations in different areas, arresting dozens of suspects while the Karachi police also conducted raids and arrested over 100 alleged criminals in raids that continued on Saturday.
The last killing incident was reported in the wee hours of Saturday but from then onwards, from early morning till late night, there were no reports of any casualty.
Sources in the police claimed that it was after 23 days that not a single killing was reported in Karachi. “It is a good sign and one that should continue,” they said. The sources added that an important meeting had been called at the Chief Minister’s House to discuss the law and order situation, where Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Manzoor Wasan, Inspector General of Police and Karachi Capital City Police Officer among other high-ups of the Pakistan People’s Party and law enforcement agencies were present.
It was suggested at the meeting to take strict action against the target killers without any discrimination as the police officials presented the data of criminals available along with their political affiliations to the ministers.
Meanwhile, praising the search operation by Rangers party leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (PPP) declared it a good action for maintaining the law and order situation in Karachi.
“After the operation of Rangers in different areas of the city, thing have become very calm, which shows that terrorist elements were present in these areas,” said MQM leader Farooq Sattar, while talking with Pakistan Today.
He added that there have been no casualty after the Rangers operation and it shows that our stance is right and terrorists in Kati Pahari and Qasba Colony were killing innocent people.
“We pray that every day is just like today, when not a single killing is reported and that there is an end to the bloodshed,” said Sattar.
While speaking with Pakistan Today, ANP Sindh Assembly member Amman Ullah Mahsood also supported the operation. “Law enforcement agencies should take action against the criminals without any discrimination. We will support the government in maintaining the law and order situation in Karachi, as this is our own city and it is our responsibility to change it into a ‘city of lights’ again,” he said. “We appreciate the efforts from government and law enforcers as not a single killing was reported today and hope this harmony continues,” he added.
