Pakistan’s special players contingent returned home after a successful run at the recently-concluded Special Olympics Summer Games in Athens, Greece, where they won 57 medals.
The national heroes arrived in three batches of 18, 55 and 12 at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore respectively in separate flights. Family and friends received these athletes at the airports.
As many as 85 Pakistani athletes participated in the event and bagged 57 medals including 17 gold, 27 silver and 13 bronze. Most successful athlete Adeel Ameer won three gold medals. He was declared the fastest special athlete in the world. More than 7500 athletes from 180 countries participated in the event.
