Raising a serious question about the government’s ability to keep official secrets, the Supreme Court on Saturday exposed a conspiracy to create differences between the executive and judiciary for political point-scoring as the apex court registrar Saturday termed the reports about rejection of the presidential reference against the PCO judges.
Reacting to news item, the registrar said on the directives of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, a letter was sent to the federal law secretary, “conveying the relevant extracts” of a six-member bench verdict of May 18, asking the latter to bring the factual position to the notice of the “competent authority”.
“The letter was marked ‘confidential’ and delivered in a sealed envelope at the office of Law and Justice Division secretary,” a press release issued by the Supreme Court registrar said, suggesting that the letter was deliberately leaked by the vested interests.
