Cattle owners advised to get livestock vaccinated

Sindh Animal Husbandry Director Dr Abdullah Mewati on Friday stated that due to expected monsoon rains in the province there is a possibility that immunity of the animals will be lowered and contagious diseases may affect the livestock and called upon the livestock owners to keep their livestock at higher places in dry sheds and to avoid marshy, unhygienic places during the rains and also get their animal vaccinated against contagious diseases, from any nearest veterinary hospital, dispensary or animal health centre.
He added that diseases which afflict cattle and buffaloes include hemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) and anthrax while diseases in sheep and goats include enterotoxaemia (ET) contagious pleura pneumonia (CPP) and anthrax. He further advised the livestock farmers that in case of any emergency they should contact the Animal Husbandry Directorate on telephone 022-9200990 or District Officer Livestock/Animal Husbandry of the district concerned.
