Pakistan’s former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has capped a memorable week for Kent as being named the Cricket County World Player of the Week. The 36-year-old former Mahmood, now a Kent stalwart, hit a maiden Twenty20 century in his teams thrashing of Gloucestershire at Beckenham, before following it up with a spell of three for 14 in a low-scoring home side win over Middlesex at Canterbury, then on a wicket-filled day against the same opponents at Lord’s he led the Kent fight back after they were bowled out for just 87, by taking six for 36 to help bowl Middlesex out for 153.
