SC orders for probe commission of Saleem Shahzad murder

Supreme Court on Monday ordered for the constitution of a high-powered commission enquiring into the murder of journalist Saleem Shahzad without any delay and disposed off the petition.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the nomination of SC Judge heading the commission would be sent to the government Monday.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Amir Hani was hearing the PFUJ petition here.
The Chief Justice in his initial remarks said that the government’s consultation letter for the enquiry commission has been received by the court.
He said, “we also want that every matter should not come to the court and the government should also perform within its perimeter.
PFUJ lawyer Munir Malik told the court that Saleem Shahzad case was a matter of basic human rights and it should been in a broader perspective.
Babar Awan representing the federation said that the government, all of its agencies and the ISPR has also supported the constitution of the commission.
